SAME TREATMENT GOALS

Depending on the organ, it can take a long time to reduce iron – so treatment guidelines recommend preventing iron loading from the start.5

Organ function, serum ferritin and tissue iron concentration should be checked regularly.5

RECOMMENDED TARGET LEVELS5

RECOMMENDED TARGET LEVELS

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends yearly MRI cardiac T2 assessments for the heart3

  • LIC assessments are also recommended every 6 months5
  • Serum ferritin levels should be measured monthly5

† MRI=magnetic resonance imaging    ‡ ms=milliseconds    § LIC=liver iron concentration
